According to the Japan Metal Daily, the Japanese Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry have officially initiated an anti-dumping investigation into nickel-based alloy stainless steel cold-rolled sheets, coils, and strips originating from Mainland China and Taiwan, China. This move was driven by major Japanese steel producers such as Nippon Steel. The investigation covers key stainless steel categories in the Japanese market, with a focus on nickel-based stainless steel cold-rolled coils in the "golden size" range of 1.5-2mm thickness with SUS304 2B finish, which holds a significant share in the local market. Additionally, thick plates of 3mm and above, as well as ultra-thin sheets below 0.5mm, are also included in the investigation. These products are widely used in construction, automotive manufacturing, home appliances, and other industries. Data shows that in 2024, Japan imported approximately 170,000 metric tons of nickel-based stainless steel cold-rolled products and coils, with wide-width coils (600mm and above) accounting for 95% of the total. Chinese products held market shares of 55% and 69% in thick plates and ultra-thin sheets, respectively.
