21.1% Anti-Dumping Duties: US Targets Stainless Steel Firms in Taiwan Region of China
Comprehensive reports from Taiwanese media, July 7, 2025, The US Department of Commerce announced a new trade sanction decision today, preliminarily ruling that stainless steel coils exported to the US from the Taiwan region of China were sold at less than fair value. This marks another recent US trade restriction targeting Chinese-related products.
The investigation revealed that during the period from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, stainless steel coils produced in the Taiwan region of China were sold in the US market below normal value.
The weighted average dumping margins for Shin Kong Steel International Co., Ltd. and Yieh United Steel Corp. — the two companies selected for individual examination — were as high as 21.10%.
Notably, the US Department of Commerce confirmed that Yieh Phui Enterprise Co., Ltd. did not export the subject merchandise to the US during the period of investigation. Additionally, 22 other companies participating in the review were not subject to suspension of liquidation.
Procedurally, the US Department of Commerce will issue its final determination within 120 days of the preliminary ruling announcement.
Analysts note that this move may further escalate US-China trade tensions and trigger chain reactions for related industries across the strait.
