Key Characteristics
1.High-Temperature Performance
Maintains excellent mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, suitable for components serving at temperatures up to 1200°F (approximately 649°C) . It offers good oxidation resistance and outstanding creep rupture properties at these temperatures .
2.High Mechanical Strength
Can develop high strength, hardness, and good fatigue resistance through proper heat treatment (quenching and tempering) . This makes it capable of withstanding heavy loads and high stress .
3.Good Corrosion Resistance
Offers good corrosion resistance for a martensitic stainless steel, capable of withstanding steam and mild corrosive environments . This is primarily due to its chromium content (11-13%) which helps form a protective oxide layer .
4.Good Fabricability
Can be machined using conventional methods, though sharp tools and controlled parameters are recommended for optimal results .
